A member of the CPD, one of the unregistered political parties who contested and won a seat in the Edo state assembly has said that he will not be assuming the position in June because he will be travelling out of the country.
The man Yaqub Adage who hails from Etsako North local government area said by then he will be on his way back by road to Libya where he works in an oil firm as a janitor and has an Arabian wife with two sons.
” I am yet to come to terms with the results because I do not know why ENEC will declare me a winner in an election where an unregistered political party was not supposed to participate”.
He said he was also dazed by the fact that despite the non-existence of a local government with the name in Edo state, he actually succeeded in collecting the relevant forms from ENEC and completed same before the deadline.
Asked about his campaigns before the elections he said, “I did not need to campaign. I just printed a few posters and psst around my village and watched TV on election day. I was therefore in shock when I got a call that I should come to ENEC office, Benin City to collect my certificate of return”.
