The ADP candidate for Unumwonde state Assembly, Mr. Augustine Osaghae has disclosed that the people of the constituency are tired of drinking harvested rain water.
Osaghae was addressing newsmen after a campaign tour of 8 out of the 10 wards in the area namely Egbede, Ohuan, Isi North and Isi south, Irue, Igiebhudu, Ehor and Igieduma.
He said, “I will give you the example of Egbede ward. Since I was born our people have been drinking harvested rain water, which is stored in underground wells that are open to lizards and frogs.
When these wells of infested water dry up, they go to nearby streams to get the dirty untreated water and for this, lives have been lost over the years. Yet there are private boreholes all over. Why have the people been so badly treated?”
The aspiring lawmaker who is an Engineer and Chief Executive Officer of Leopetrotech Ltd however blamed poor representation by PDP and APC lawmakers from the area in the past, for the ugly development.
“Our people have been voting for these same set of politicians who make promises they do not intend to fulfil. They are tired. We of ADP are in this election with a promise to effectively represent Uhunwonde in a manner that will bring potable water, good roads among others to the constituency”.
Osaghae also said that with the admission by the State government that it spent billions of Naira to acquire rigs for drilling water, there is nothing stop the people of his constituency from having boreholes in each community.
The ADP candidate however assured that a vote for ADP in next month’s elections will help actualize the hope for better representation and good governance, which has eluded Uhunwonde for decades.#
